Okay, before you decide
to throw away that old t-shirt of yours, maybe you should consider trying out some
of this very simple yet very rewarding add-on to your closet. And if you are bold
enough to try it on a new T-Shirt it’s truly rewarding. Fashion is an art and
as in any form of art, creativity is all that is needed after a bit of thinking
and then innovating.
Slasher Scarf:
All you need is a
T-shirt (with a bit of stretch) and scissors.
Cut the jersey into a
long rectangular strip. This will be your basic length and wide of your scarf.
So you decide your size and cut out.
Now, fold your fabric beginning
at one end, zig sagging and forth until the other end align with the sack.
Hold firmly, so they
don’t slip and start cutting even slits on the long sides of the stack. Now
turn the stack and cut slits down the opposite site while aiming between the
cuts on the opposite side.
Now, the most important
finishing move and the fun part. Unfold your scarf and start stretching the holes
one by one with your fingers. You will see all the rough edges curls under and
gives extra texture to the slash. Once all holes have been stretch, take the
scarf on both ends and stretch the entire scarf. Viola!!! You have your funky
slasher scarf.
Strapless No-Sew Shirt:
Needs: A T-Shirt, Scissors,
Tape, Gold Fabric color, Brush and Safety Pins.
Tape the T-Shirt right
under the arms (these makes it easier to cut a straight line).
Flip the shirt upside
down. Now the bottom is the top of your shirt.
Now, cut out a 1 inch
strip across the bottom of your shirt which you will use it to make the tie of
the shirt.
Cut the strip open on
one side and stretch it. Now it should make a stretchy chord like piece.
Tape of your lines as
shown in the picture and make is equally straight (unless you want it otherwise).
Now start painting your
lines between the tapes with the golden fabric color. Make sure you use some
hard cardboard or plastic bag in between your shirt. Now let it dry for 4-6
hours.
Mark the middle front
of your shirt and cut a small slit (just the first layer, not all the way
through), big enough to fit a safety pin though.
Tie one end of the
chord that you made to the safety pin. Weave the safety pin all the way round
and bring it out at the other end. Now you have a cute strapless shirt to wear
for the remaining of your summer days.
T-Shirt Flower Dress:
Okay, this one is not a
very simple to do thing and needs a little bit of extra work and time. But sure
is worth it and if you are one of those artsy type of person when it comes to
fashion, you sure is gonna love this one to bits.
You will need a few different
color T-Shirts, a slip or a stretchy dress, Scissors and Sewing Machine.
Cut long strips out of the
T-Shirts. Here is a plain one but it’s not limited. Play your mind to get
whatever you desire. Like punk using printed T-Shirts.
For the base, a slip or
a stretchy dress because of all the sewing you will do, the base fabric needs
to be able to support the stitching. Just make sure it’s a long enough because,
it will get shorter as you go.
Now start sewing the
flowers patterns with the cut out T-Shirt strips. It’s no rocket science. Start from
where ever you want and fill the dress.
Start sewing with one end and go
spiral. And it doesn’t have to be perfect because we really don’t want to be perfect.
